Transformers: War for Cybertron was arguably the best Transformers game ever made. Actually, I'll just state that as a fact, since really I don't think anyone who actually enjoys playing video games could argue against it. The unfortunate side of that fact is that the lack of good Transformers games in the past does much to cloud that distinction. This, of course, also includes the games that were based on both of the Michael Bay films. Activision must have recognized this and decided to do all of us Transformers fans a solid.
High Moon studios has been tapped to work their lunar magic for a second time. Setting their sights on the movie universe, the Transformers: Dark Of The Moon game will take place right before the film starts. I was able to speak to High Moon at the recent Toy Fair and I was able to confirm a few things.
First of all, this will be dealing with events before the film. It does not span the entire time between Revenge of the Fallen and Dark of The Moon, but it does take place right up to the start of the 3rd film. The gameplay and engine will be based off of War for Cybertron so expect a smooth transition. You will be able to play as both Autobots and Decipticons and there will most likely be multi-player, set up the same way as in War for Cybertron. When I asked them if there were going to be playable characters that aren't in the movies they simply smiled and giggled and said they couldn't comment on that. I'm taking that as a yes. Take a look at the brief teaser trailer below.

The First Video Game Music To Win A Grammy - History Is Made
Something amazing just happened. History was made. Music from a video game just won a Grammy.
Christopher Tin's "Baba Yetu," the song that originally appeared as the opening song for Sid Meiers' PC hit Civilization IV, won "Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalists". Also nominated was Tin's classical/world fusion album "Calling All Dawns" which won the Grammy for the "Best Classical Crossover Album".
What this brings forth is yet another notch on the "video games as art" debate that keeps rearing it's ugly head. I certainly hope that we see this happening more frequently and would love for them to finally include video game music in the categories for the Grammy's. It is great that this won at all, but the fact that there is still no category for video games in an industry awards show for something that has such a huge influence on music and is so heavily influenced by music makes no sense to me.
Here is a Video Games Live performance of the song, which is also credited for bringing much attention to it to begin with.

New Jill Valentine and Shuma Gorath Screens - Marvel Vs. Capcom 3
For a video game and comic book geek like me, February 15th just can't come fast enough. Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is almost here and it still feels to me like I won't be playing it till after E3, even though I've already had a decent amount of game time with it. Today Capcom let out some new screens featuring the two DLC characters, Jill Valentine and Shuma Gorath, and they look nice and pretty. Check out the rest of the hi-res images below. Some of them are damn near wallpaper worthy.

The Return....
I'm back and I'm bringing some friends with me. We're going to do some damage. I had a vision for what I wanted to do with this site and was limited only by my time, my effort, money and zeal. I'm still somewhat limited on time and I'm probably more broke than I've ever been, however I've got a rich yearning for the editorial process, some friends that want to help me, and still marketing support from PR folks that miss me... a little.
In the next few weeks there will be some mutations. Toy Fair is coming up and I have a couple appointments and will be using them to for content here. Expect to see video, pictures and write ups on that alone.
I also have a big backlog of movies to sit through and review and a few ideas for some funny features and what not. All in all, I'm ready again, and I really mean it this time. If you can't use insomnia for something productive then why the fuck do we have it for anyhow?
